May 14, 2024 - The 49ͼ Cricket Club will soon play matches near campus at Dr. Glen Dey Park. The club held a groundbreaking ceremony in April.

Oct. 16, 2021 - Later this fall, pickleball becomes permanent on campus at the Heskett Center’s Outdoor Sports Complex.  When it became necessary to resurface six tennis courts, John Lee, director of Campus Recreation, decided to do something different. The complex will feature four pickleball courts, two courts for tennis and two existing courts for half-court basketball and one for futsal.

Sept. 10, 2021 – 49ͼ Campus Recreation and the University Police Department teamed up this summer to teach more than 200 children from the Wichita community how to swim. The program was made possible by the Michael Phelps Foundation Grant received by Campus Recreation.

Aug. 11, 2021 - People are returning to the 49ͼ campus as summer continues and the fall semester approaches. If you’re a newcomer – or feel like it’s been a while – you’ll notice construction and new businesses on campus.

Rowers on Little Arkansas River

May 18, 2021 - The Wichita Rowing Association founded 49ͼ crew in 1974, and that shared history remains important to many former Shockers. On May 8, the WRA dedicated its $250,000 Riverside Rowing Center Boathouse at Riverside Park on the Little Arkansas River.
